Erik Brown, Sommelier at The Oregon Grille, joined us to take my Drink Like it’s 1999 challenge! He brought affordable alternatives to the splurges of the past to show you can still drink like its a bull market in 2013! Culinary educated at Johnson and Wales, trained at Kiawah Island and externed in Holland.  Worked as a sommelier in Boston and was the opening head sommelier for The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island, SC.  Currently The Wine Director at the Oregon Grille in Hunt Valley for 5 ½ Years.

  • If you drank Dom Perignon in 1999 you can drink Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Blue Label Champagne also from the Champagne region now. $60 on his wine list vs. $275 for Dom Perignon
  • If you drank Grand Cru White Burgundy in 1999 you can drink Domaine Marc Colin et fils Saint Aubin “Le Charmois” 2008 also from Burgundy now.  $85 on his wine list vs. $250 for one of his Grand Cru

Rob Deford, owner of Boordy Vineyards in Hydes, MD, joined us to talk about his award winning wines and the state of the wine industry in Maryland. Rob Deford is a twelfth generation Marylander with over forty years of experience in the wine industry.
