Sips of the Week

Breaux Vineyards Rose 2011, Loudoun County, Virginia $19

Winemaker’s Notes: The 2011 rosé is a blend of 3 grapes:  54% Nebbiolo, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 12% Chambourcin.  The wine is fermented dry and has a crisp acidity to leave it fresh and perfect for food pairing.  Aromas of fresh red fruits, flowers and turkish delight fill the glass, as flavors of fresh strawberry and cherry overwhelm the palate and lead up to a clean and refreshing finish.

Horton Vineyards Tannat 2010, Charlottesville, Virginia $20

Winemaker’s Notes:

Originally known for making big tannic wines in the Madiran in southwest France, Horton’s Tannat produces this rich, full bodied red wine, with a strong tannic backbone, leathery fruit flavors, and a long spicy finish.
