Hoby Wedler has Laurie try one of his tasting exercises!

This week’s Laurie sits down with Hoby Wedler to talk about Tasting in the Dark, a series of events he leads in cooperation with Francis Ford Coppola wines. Henry “Hoby” Wedler, a blind graduate student at the University of California, Davis, and host of Francis Ford Coppola Winery’s Tasting in the Dark experience has been honored at the White House as Champions of Change for leading the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) for people with disabilities. He blindfolds Laurie and puts her to the test!

Laurie and Chef John Shields try 2 of the cocktails (Black Eyed Susan & Dirty Gertie) in the Libations section of his updated Chesapeake Bay Cooking cookbook.

Then Laurie talks raises a glass with Chef John Shield in celebration of the 25th anniversary edition of his cookbook Chesapeake Bay Cooking. John is often called the “Culinary Ambassador of the Chesapeake Bay” and he has written three popular cookbooks on the cuisine of the region.
